October - Our Eco Activities

🌱 1. Collaborative Eco-Code

"Coding in Hexadecimal with Eco Heroes".  Our young Eco Heroes took part in an exciting international Code Week activity! 🌍✨

They first explored how coding works through hexadecimal representation and learned how numbers and letters can “speak” in code. Then, they worked together to encode the letter “L” — for our Italian partner team to decode— using both hexadecimal and binary code. After completing their work, the students uploaded their code themselves to our shared digital book, so that their Italian partners could find and decode it!

With great curiosity and enthusiasm, the students then received a hexadecimal code from another partner school and joyfully decoded it to reveal its hidden message.

Through this fun collaboration, they not only practiced logical thinking and teamwork but also celebrated the spirit of European Code Week and the power of digital creativity! 💚

💡 2. Second Eco-Challenge: “Save Energy – Save the Planet”

We watched inspiring videos and discussed practical ways to save energy in our daily lives. Then, we created our own short video full of tips and ideas to help protect our planet while making energy-saving simple and fun!

🌳 3. World Tree Day (October 10th)

On World Tree Day, we learned about Cyprus' national tree, the Golden oak (Latzia). Inspired, we created our very own Tree of Promises on the school board, writing down pledges to protect and care for trees. Together with our partners, we built a collaborative tree full of hopes and commitments for a greener future.

💻🌍🎶 4. Student Meeting & Erasmus Days

We joined our eTwinning partners from the project “Eco Heroes: Little Actions, Big Impact” in an inspiring online meeting. Students connected across Europe and sang “We Are the World” — a beautiful symbol of unity, hope, and European values such as respect, freedom, democracy, equality, justice, and human rights. This special activity was part of our Erasmus Days celebrations, highlighting collaboration and global awareness.
